Starting August 29, we will be phasing out our 2G network as part of our ongoing efforts to enhance and modernise our services. After August 31, 2024 customers with 2G phones (including most 'bangers') will no longer be able to use them on our network. Upgrade to a new phone now and stay connected.

The initiative to shut down 2G network involves the gradual phasing out of second-generation wireless technology in order to access more advanced networks. The move is in response to the rapid evolution of mobile technology and the increasing demand for faster and more reliable mobile services.

The first 2G shutdown activity will be completed on August 29, 2024. The areas that will be impacted are St. Elizabeth, Hanover, St. James, Portland, St. Thomas, Trelawny and Westmoreland.

The second and final shutdown activity will be completed as of August 31, 2024. The areas that will be impacted include St. Catherine, Clarendon, St. Ann, Kingston, St. Andrew, Manchester and St. Mary.

Customers using 2G, EDGE, or GPRS services will no longer have access to the network.

All over the world, networks are saying goodbye to legacy 2G technology like the one that connects the affected customers’ phone to the Digicel network. Now, it’s our turn. Our modern, advanced high-speed 4G LTE network provides plenty of new features that our customers will love.

The network upgrade will affect Digicel customers who are using 2G-only devices to connect to our network.

The distribution of awareness messages would have commenced as early as April 26, 2023 with periodic reminders continuously being shared up to the completion of the shutdown on August 31, 2024.
